Although you may not know, our colonies over the water also had an Civil war. This link will take you to one site of fellow English "American Civil War" re-enactors.
Caliver Books
If like me, you are a "bookaholic, then try these guys. They can supply most history books for whatever period or subject you want. (They are also into War gaming etc).
Syon Park, Richmond on Thames
Although the original Tudor house was remodelled in 1760's by Robert adams, you can sense the ghosts of the past. Here the 10th Earl of Northumberland looked after the younger siblings of the future Charles II in 1646 (including the to be James II).
The family still live here and the house/site is worth a visit
